Moved my blog to Tumblr, sorry WordPress….

I like for you to be still: it is as though you were absent,
and you hear me from far away and my voice does not touch you.

It seems as though your eyes had flown away
and it seems that a kiss had sealed your mouth.

As all things are filled with my soul
you emerge from the things, filled with my soul.
You are like my soul, a butterfly of dream,
and you are like the word Melancholy.

I like for you to be still, and you seem far away.
It sounds as though you were lamenting, a butterfly cooing like a dove.
And you hear me from far away, and my voice does not reach you:
Let me come to be still in your silence.

And let me talk to you with your silence
that is bright as a lamp, simple as a ring.
You are like the night, with its stillness and constellations.
Your silence is that of a star, as remote and candid.

I like for you to be still: it is as though you were absent,
distant and full of sorrow as though you had died.
One word then, one smile, is enough.
And I am happy, happy that it’s not true.

-Pablo Neruda

Run Away

Untitled, 2011

“Here I came to the very edge
where nothing at all needs saying,
everything is absorbed through weather and the sea,
and the moon swam back,
its rays all silvered,
and time and again the darkness would be broken
by the crash of a wave,
and every day on the balcony of the sea,
wings open, fire is born,
and everything is blue again like morning. ”
― Pablo Neruda

As a recent college graduate it’s pretty easy to feel a little discombobulated. You move back in with your parents and go back to your old minimum wage summer job. What’s the next step for the unemployed artist? Well when you figure that out let me know. In the meantime I’ve decided to start posting call for entries to exhibitions that I’ve found. This will probably come back to bite me in the ass, since I know a lot of really talented artist, but better someone I know that no one at all I guess?

Click on the gallery logo for exhibition details.

Photographer, Chase Jarvis, is doing this really cool exhibition at the Ace Hotel in NYC this month. He’s trying to create the biggest collection of snapshots in a gallery space. I love this idea, because anyone and everyone can participate and relate…plus it involves Polaroids. If you’re going to be in NYC with in the next month or so be sure to take a snap snot with you! Or you can submit digitally here, which is pretty cool because Jarvis is curating these pictures himself.
